Description

Provides clinical and clerical support to pulmonology providers and the patient care team by performing back-office and patient-related tasks that support delivery of high-quality patient care. Helps ensure smooth patient and workflow within the department and assists the patient care team in implementing the medical plan of care. Integrates patient interaction, technical competence, and education to build confidence and cooperation from patients, families/support groups, and other providers.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of back office and patient-related tasks supporting the medical plan of care

• Prepare patients for exam and assist during clinic workflow

• Take vital signs, administer injections, and perform basic medical assisting tasks

• Interpret data and instructions delivered in multiple formats (written, oral, diagrams, schedules)

• Communicate clearly and professionally, including when explaining sensitive information

• Prioritize assignments and work within standardized operating procedures to meet deadlines

• Work independently and collaboratively in a team environment with interruptions

• Identify, evaluate, and resolve standard problems using established options

• Maintain basic computer and EHR proficiency to support clinical documentation and workflow

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED

• Medical Assistant program graduate (diploma within 90 days) OR completion of a Medical Assistant externship (160 hours)

• BLS (Basic Life Support) Healthcare Provider certification

• 1 year of recent relevant experience
