Description

Locum Tenens Physician Assistant needed for cardiovascular surgery coverage in an acute care hospital. Provide comprehensive medical care to patients under the supervision of a licensed physician, including assessment, diagnostics, treatment planning, procedures, and thorough documentation. Scheduled shifts plus on-call are required.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive medical care under physician supervision
• Take patient histories and perform physical examinations
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests
• Develop and implement treatment plans
• Prescribe medications
• Perform authorized procedures per state regulations and supervising physician
• Educate and counsel patients on preventative care and health management
• Coordinate care with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals
• Accurately and thoroughly document medical records
• Stay current on medical advancements via continuing education

Requirements

• Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) degree from an accredited program
• Active and unencumbered PA license in Tennessee
• NCCPA national certification
• At least one year of clinical experience in the specialty (preferred)
• Ability to work scheduled shifts and on-call coverage
