Description

Provide advanced primary and specialty care as a GI Nurse Practitioner, including physical exams, patient medical history documentation, care plan development, and diagnostic testing for digestive-tract issues. Support clinical care and education, and assist physicians with procedures such as colonoscopies and endoscopies, including conscious sedation. Manage medications, coordinate diet/nutrition recommendations with nutritionists, and provide patient guidance on prevention and health.

Responsibilities

• Examine, diagnose, and treat patients
• Ensure delivery of quality care
• Collect, record, and maintain accurate patient information
• Document medical, family, and social history; review of systems; medications; allergies; and assessment/plan
• Order or perform tests, analyses, and diagnostic imaging
• Analyze test and exam findings to diagnose conditions
• Administer or prescribe treatments
• Order lab and imaging to guide immediate treatment plans
• Vaccinate patients against communicable diseases
• Advise patients on diet, hygiene, and disease prevention
• Consult and refer to specialists within the network when needed
• Assist physicians with colonoscopies, endoscopies, and conscious sedation
• Coordinate with nutritionists for diet assessment and recommendations

Requirements

• Master’s degree in a Nurse Practitioner program (Family or Adult/Geriatrics)
• Current New York State Nurse Practitioner license
• National Board Certification via AANP, ANCC, or ONCC
• Spanish bilingual ability is a plus
• EMR/EHR experience is a plus
• New graduates encouraged; GI experience preferred but not required
