Description

Provide diagnostic and therapeutic eye care, ranging from routine vision testing and prescribing corrective lenses to advanced procedures such as keyhole or laser surgery. Manage emergency and outpatient eye clinics and treat vision-impacting medical disorders using a holistic approach, including therapeutic procedures and biopsies. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of eye diseases, functions, and anatomy while delivering meticulous, analytical care.

Responsibilities

• Provide routine care, including vision testing and prescribing glasses and contact lenses
• Perform corrective surgeries, including repairing injuries and corneas and removing cataracts
• Perform advanced surgical procedures, including keyhole or laser surgery
• Diagnose and treat eye diseases and injuries
• Manage emergency eye clinics, outpatient clinics, or other specialist eye clinics
• Treat medical disorders that affect vision through a holistic approach
• Use therapeutic procedures and perform biopsies

Requirements

• Medical degree in ophthalmology
• Completion of internship and residency in ophthalmology
• State license to practice ophthalmology
• Expert working knowledge of eye diseases, functions, and anatomy
• Strong physics and math skills and excellent medical knowledge
• Good administrative and managerial skills
• Good hand-eye coordination
• Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
