Description

Provide routine and advanced ophthalmic care, including vision testing, prescribing glasses and contact lenses, diagnosing eye diseases and injuries, and performing corrective surgeries such as corneal repair and cataract removal. Perform advanced procedures like keyhole or laser surgery, manage emergency/outpatient eye clinics, and treat vision-impacting medical disorders using a holistic approach, including therapeutic procedures and biopsies.

Responsibilities

• Provide routine care: vision testing; prescribe glasses and contact lenses

• Perform corrective surgeries (e.g., corneal repair, cataract removal)

• Perform advanced surgical procedures (keyhole or laser surgery)

• Diagnose and treat eye diseases and injuries

• Manage emergency eye clinics, outpatient clinics, or other specialist eye clinics

• Treat medical disorders affecting vision holistically

• Use therapeutic procedures and perform biopsies

Requirements

• Medical degree in ophthalmology

• Successful completion of an internship and residency in ophthalmology

• State license to practice ophthalmology

• Expert working knowledge of eye diseases, functions, and anatomy

• Strong physics and math skills; excellent medical knowledge

• Good administrative and managerial skills

• Good hand-eye coordination

• Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
