Description

Treat and repair injuries or illnesses affecting the musculoskeletal system through surgical and therapeutic care. Diagnose conditions affecting bones, joints, and ligaments, set fractures using braces/pins/splints/casts, and correct musculoskeletal defects. Manage treatment plans, monitor recovery, prescribe medications, and coordinate rehabilitation and referrals.

Responsibilities

• Take patient histories and assess injury extent using specialized equipment
• Determine best mode of treatment
• Order and interpret blood tests for degenerative bone conditions
• Strengthen targeted body areas using exercises, ultrasounds, and strength training
• Perform surgical repair of bones, nerves, ligaments, tendons, and joints
• Treat acute and chronic injuries and pain
• Prescribe medications to support recovery
• Monitor healing and adjust treatment plans as needed
• Arrange rehabilitation plans after surgeries
• Supervise and assign duties to nurses and other medical staff
• Refer patients to other specialists for further treatment
• Remain up to date via medical conferences and courses

Requirements

• Medical degree in orthopedics
• Successful completion of fellowship and residency
• License and certification to practice medicine
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
• Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
• Working knowledge of orthopedic methods and equipment
• Flexibility to work shifts and remain on call for emergencies
