Description

You will join an AI-first engineering team building solutions for a leading financial group in Japan. The role focuses on designing and developing end-to-end backend systems in Python, leveraging Databricks to create robust applications, services, and integrations. You will also contribute to frontend work when needed and use AI-powered development tools to accelerate delivery and improve code quality.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications and services using Python

• Build end-to-end solutions leveraging Databricks, including components, integrations, and backend services

• Design and implement REST APIs and integrate backend systems with external services

• Develop and maintain cloud-based solutions, primarily on AWS

• Take ownership of solutions from requirements analysis and architecture design through implementation and deployment

• Contribute to frontend development when needed (modern JavaScript frameworks opportunity)

• Leverage AI-powered development tools and AI-assisted coding practices to improve efficiency and quality

• Explore AI-driven automation in development processes

• Build prototypes, validate technical concepts, and deliver scalable solutions

• Participate in technical planning, solution design, testing, code reviews, and architectural discussions

• Collaborate with cross-functional international teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions

• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, automation, and performance optimization

• Promote engineering best practices, clean code, maintainability, and modern software development standards

Requirements

• 6+ years of commercial experience in Python backend development, designing and building production-grade applications

• Senior-level ability to independently design, develop, and deliver complex technical solutions

• Strong understanding of backend architecture, REST APIs, distributed systems, and software design principles

• Cloud-based application development experience, preferably AWS

• Solid knowledge of object-oriented programming, clean code, and software engineering best practices

• Experience with CI/CD processes, version control systems, and modern development practices

• Willingness to work with frontend technologies and contribute to frontend development when required

• AI-first mindset and openness to AI-assisted development tools, automation, and emerging technologies

• Strong problem-solving skills, independence, and solution-oriented approach

• Ability to take ownership of technical decisions considering scalability, performance, maintainability, and business requirements

• Advanced English communication skills
