Software Engineer – Test Infrastructure (IaaS)

Description

You will design and implement a holistic test strategy for IaaS products, ensuring code changes are automatically verified before production deployments. You will build reusable automated test primitives and integrate automated test reporting into development and release workflows while shifting testing earlier in the lifecycle to improve pipeline performance and code coverage. You will validate infrastructure performance under load and identify issues before they reach staging.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage an end-to-end test strategy across IaaS products, including unit, integration, staging/smoke, and production (live) tests, plus acceptance, configuration, disaster-recovery, and performance testing
• Develop robust, reusable automated testing primitives and scaffolding for OpenStack, Kubernetes, distributed API backends, and middleware
• Integrate automated test reporting into development and release workflows to ensure production deployments are automatically verified
• Apply shift-left practices to move tests earlier in the development cycle and improve pipeline performance and code coverage
• Find defects before staging and validate infrastructure component performance limits under load

Requirements

• Senior-level experience as Software Architect, Platform Engineer, or Backend Developer designing complex distributed systems or cloud environments
• Ability to make system testability a default, and build robust CI/CD pipelines; treat Infrastructure-as-Code as first-class
• Strong programming skills in Golang or Python for backend tools and automation frameworks
• Practical backend testing expertise, ideally with Linux, Kubernetes, OpenStack, and complex REST/gRPC APIs
• Proven ability to design scalable systems; experience validating high-performance backends with benchmarks, profiling, and stress tests
• Experience in developer experience, CI/CD, and system reliability
• Ability to cover unit, integration, staging/smoke, production/live, acceptance, configuration, disaster-recovery, and performance testing
