Site Reliability Engineer

We are seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to join a five-member engineering team in Warsaw supporting the digital payments infrastructure of a global leader in payment network technology, whose high-volume backend services power leading digital wallet platforms. In this role, you will keep business-critical payment systems available around the clock, working alongside development teams to resolve production incidents, drive root cause analysis, and automate your way to more reliable, better-performing services.

Essential functions

• Production Reliability & Incident Resolution: Own day-to-day SRE work across tokenization applications, products and services, including maintenance, incident handling and 24x7 application support for multiple large-scale distributed systems.

• Proactive System Health Analysis: Monitor availability and analyze OS and application metrics with Prometheus, Grafana and ClickHouse to detect problems early, find faults and tune performance with little or no guidance.

• Root Cause Analysis & Client Issues: Investigate issues reported by clients and partners, contribute to RCA, and deliver solutions that prevent recurrence.

• Automation & Platform Tooling: Build software and systems to manage platform infrastructure and applications, and create sustainable services through automation and Gen AI–based initiatives.

• Reliability Engineering & SLOs: Balance product velocity and reliability with well-defined service-level objectives, partnering with development teams on rigorous testing and release procedures.

• Capacity & Design Input: Take part in system design consulting, platform management and capacity planning, measuring and optimizing performance to stay ahead of customer needs.

Qualifications

• Commercial experience in Site Reliability Engineering or backend production support; hands-on SRE experience is strongly preferred.

• Incident Management & Reliability Principles: Strong operational understanding of incident management workflows and reliability engineering practices.

• Java Diagnostics: Solid knowledge of Java with a focus on backend troubleshooting, diagnostics and issue resolution in Java-based runtimes.

• Database Proficiency: Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL and Oracle DB, including CRUD operations and complex data manipulation.

• Monitoring & Telemetry: Practical experience with Prometheus and Grafana for system health monitoring, plus familiarity with analytics tools such as ClickHouse.

• Backend Orientation: A purely backend focus; mobile application development experience is not required.

Would be a plus

• Distributed Messaging: Awareness of or hands-on experience with Apache Kafka or Hazelcast.

• Payments Domain Exposure: Experience supporting high-volume, business-critical transaction systems.

• Automation with Gen AI: Experience applying AI-based tooling to operational automation.
