Description

You will lead end-to-end delivery of large-scale BESS and substation CAPEX projects across Europe, ensuring safety, scope, cost, schedule, performance, and quality. The role combines complex project management with technical review of engineering and commissioning strategies. You will also support structured portfolio management and contribute to standards, best practices, and lessons learned for the portfolio.

Responsibilities

• Own large-volume CAPEX project delivery for BESS and substations in Europe from development to operations handover
• Ensure work safety, scope, costs, timelines, performance, and quality
• Lead the project team and manage project management, contracts, risks, permits, engineering, construction, commissioning, procurement, and claim management
• Coordinate internal and external stakeholder management
• Support the International Batteries Pipeline Manager with structured portfolio management
• Ensure successful execution of multiple BESS projects in terms of scope, quality, schedule, and budget; review project plans and critical paths; initiate risk countermeasures
• Evaluate engineering concepts, studies, and commissioning strategies for technical robustness and economic viability
• Participate in solving critical technical and project challenges
• Contribute to developing standards, best practices, and lessons learned; build competencies across the group
• Coordinate collaboration between E.ON Energy Projects and E.ON Energy Infrastructure Solutions under a dual reporting structure

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or a comparable field
• Long-term experience delivering complex BESS and/or energy infrastructure projects, ideally including integrated BESS and substation projects
• Experience managing multiple complex projects in parallel with strong project management and project controls
• Proven ability to coordinate cross-border stakeholder structures; strong communication and influencing skills
• In-depth technical expertise in BESS and capability to critically assess technical concepts and solutions
• Sound understanding of BESS cost drivers and EPC execution models; economic mindset, hands-on attitude, continuous improvement
• German and English proficiency (C1) and willingness to travel (20–40%)
