Description

You will lead the visual evolution of Google Drive by defining a visual north star covering typography, color, spatial layout, iconography, and high-density scannability for both consumer and enterprise workflows. You’ll architect and govern robust Figma design systems in partnership with Workspace Design System (WDS) and Carbon to ensure consistency and cross-surface scalability. You’ll also shape motion design principles and create trustworthy visual experiences for complex file hierarchies and Gemini AI behaviors (dynamic synthesis, agentic workflows, and semantic search).

Responsibilities

• Establish and advocate Drive’s visual design direction across Web, Android, and iOS (typographic scale, dynamic color palettes, spatial layouts, iconography, scannability)
• Architect, scale, and govern robust Figma design systems and structures with WDS and Carbon teams for component consistency, theming support, and scalability
• Define motion design principles and choreograph purposeful interaction transitions (drag-and-drop, file preview states, loading/shimmer patterns, navigation transitions)
• Design next-generation visual frameworks and motion language for Gemini in Drive, making complex AI behaviors scannable, trustworthy, and fluid
• Partner closely with UX, Product Management, and Engineering with an ownership mindset to solve ambiguous problems at scale

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience
• 8 years of experience in product design or UX
• Portfolio/website link (included with application) showing relevant work

Benefits

• U.S. compensation: $188000–$274000 (USD) base + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits
