SONiC Technical Lead

22,000 - 30,000 PLN/yr

Warsaw, Poland

Quick Facts

  • Role: SONiC Technical Lead

Description

Lead end-to-end qualification, bring-up, hardening, and shipping of robust SONiC releases across physical switch targets. You will design and debug core SONiC subsystems (SWSS, syncd, Redis state databases, and Linux services), isolate failures across layers, and drive resolutions with silicon vendors. You will also architect automated regression and CI/CD workflows to validate forwarding, congestion, and L2/L3 resiliency, using advanced debugging and telemetry tools.

Responsibilities

  • Lead SONiC release qualification, bring-up, hardening, and shipping for production targets

  • Design, extend, and debug SWSS, syncd, Redis in-memory state databases, and Linux system services

  • Isolate failures across NOS application software, SAI logic, and vendor SDK layers; coordinate fixes with silicon vendors

  • Debug state consistency issues between APPL_DB, ASIC_DB, and syncd (transaction processing and pub/sub)

  • Build automated regression workflows (Pytest, PTF, sonic-mgmt, Ansible) integrated into CI/CD

  • Perform root-cause analysis using packet captures, kernel debug tools (gdb, perf, BPF), diagnostic logs, Redis telemetry, and line-rate traffic generators (TRex, PTF, Keysight)

  • Accelerate defect isolation and test automation with AI-assisted log analysis and LLM coding assistants

  • Conduct rigorous code reviews across C/C++, Python, and Go; mentor team members and maintain code quality

Requirements

  • Proven track record shipping, qualifying, and hardening production-grade SONiC platforms on physical switch hardware

  • Expert hands-on experience with SWSS, syncd, and Redis state databases

  • Demonstrated ability to isolate complex bugs across NOS application software, SAI wrapper logic, and vendor-proprietary silicon SDKs and drive fixes through vendor channels

  • Strong hands-on engineering skills in C/C++ and Python in Linux (multi-threading, IPC, socket programming, system calls)

  • Understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking standards (BGP, EVPN, VXLAN, VLAN, QoS, RoCEv2, PFC, ECN)

  • Strong Linux networking internals experience (kernel drivers, sysfs, dmesg, gdb, perf, tcpdump, systemd)

  • Hands-on Python-based test frameworks (PTF, pytest)

  • Deep familiarity with sonic-mgmt repository structure and test suite implementation

  • Proficiency with Docker

  • Practical experience with Ansible for configuration management and orchestration

  • Hands-on experience building and integrating automated CI/CD pipelines

  • English proficiency at B2+ level minimum

Benefits

  • Flexible working hours: fully remote, office (Warsaw), or hybrid

  • Professional growth via internal training sessions (Tech Talks) and a training budget

  • Hands-on onboarding

  • Supportive team culture focused on low-level engineering, networking, and cloud automation

  • Opportunity to switch projects within a multi-client portfolio
