Description

Join the Power Transmission and Distribution team as a Principal Electrical Engineer working on innovative power grid projects. You will deliver FEED and detailed design for HV substations, create engineering reports and equipment specifications, and provide design input across project lifecycle stages. The work includes multidisciplinary coordination and integrating net-zero technologies such as energy storage, HVDC systems, and smart grid solutions.

Responsibilities

• Perform FEED and detailed design for HV substations and related energy infrastructure

• Produce engineering reports and equipment specifications for HV plant and ancillary equipment

• Provide engineering design input from feasibility/front-end engineering through detailed design and design support during construction

• Coordinate with client project teams and internal disciplines (civil, structural, environmental, survey/geotechnical, protection & control, overhead lines, cables, and CAD/BIM teams)

• Deliver projects incorporating net zero technologies (energy storage, HVDC systems, smart grid solutions)

• Provide professional engineering and design services to clients in the UK and overseas

Requirements

• Degree-level qualification; ideally Chartered Engineer status or actively working toward it

• Experience in the power transmission and distribution industry

• Experience with design, delivery, and supervision of HV substation solutions (110kV to 400kV)

• Experience developing specifications for HV AIS/GIS substations and associated primary/secondary equipment

• Experience across all stages of project lifecycles

• Experience applying regulatory and client-specific health and safety requirements to HV plant system designs

• Experience preparing technical reports in English
