Description

Principal Software Engineer designing and delivering cloud-based solutions using modern software engineering practices. You will lead design documentation and dependency identification, mentor engineers to build extensible, maintainable code, and serve as a DRI with on-call responsibility. The role focuses on improving availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance at scale.

Responsibilities

• Partner with stakeholders to determine user requirements for scenarios

• Lead identification of dependencies and develop design documents for products, applications, services, or platforms

• Lead by example and mentor others to produce extensible and maintainable code used across products

• Use subject-matter expertise to drive cross-group project plans, release plans, and work items

• Act as a DRI, including mentoring engineers and providing on-call support to monitor degradation, downtime, or interruptions

• Proactively adopt new trends and patterns to improve availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance

• Share knowledge with other engineers

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python (or equivalent experience)

• Security clearance: must have active TS/SCI and be willing/eligible to upgrade to TS/SCI (with polygraph), and maintain the clearance

• Meet Microsoft/customer/government security screening requirements pre-offer and post-hire

• Provide clearance verification information prior to offer

• Pass Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter

• U.S. citizenship verification is required

Benefits

• Typical base pay range (U.S.): $142,800–$274,800 per year (site-specific ranges apply)
