Description

You will take functional responsibility for the further development of an SAP S/4HANA Utilities landscape and help define the technology direction of a central energy-industry transformation program.

You will advise management and stakeholders on key decisions, define target architectures and technical standards, and support complex solution approaches with cross-domain business impacts.

You will also analyze and prioritize critical technical risks and identify new technologies, automation and AI opportunities to derive strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Functional overall responsibility for strategically relevant topics within the SAP S/4HANA Utilities landscape

• Define technical guardrails, standards, and target architectures across multiple products and process domains

• Develop, evaluate, and approve complex solution approaches; support implementation for technically and functionally complex cases

• Ensure sustainable further development of the SAP Utilities architecture in close alignment with Enterprise Architecture and management

• Steer cross-domain initiatives and provide functional leadership for virtual expert teams

• Develop implementation strategies for regulatory requirements and ensure enterprise-wide integration

• Analyze and prioritize business-critical technical risks

• Create decision materials for management bodies and represent technical recommendations at management level

• Identify and assess new technologies, automation, and AI potential; derive strategic action areas

Requirements

• Long-term experience as technical expert or lead architect in SAP Utilities and complex system landscapes

• Documented experience in functional steering of complex transformation or digitalization programs

• Demonstrated functional and technical expertise in SAP S/4HANA Utilities; ability to support teams hands-on as a sparring partner

• Experience defining target architectures, technical standards, and governance structures

• Ability to prepare strategic decisions and advise management-level stakeholders

• Strong understanding of energy-industry market processes and regulatory requirements

• Experience leading cross-departmental teams and external partners without disciplinary responsibility

• Strong decision-making and persistence in complex organizational settings

• Fluent German and very good English skills (at least B2) and enjoyment of working with international teams
