Description

You will operate and optimize an SAP S/4HANA system landscape, covering application, database, and infrastructure components. The role includes analyzing technical incidents and requirements, managing monitoring/performance, and maintaining SAP interface and integration operations for cloud, hybrid, and on-prem environments. You will also coordinate external service providers and drive updates, upgrades, migrations, system copies, transports, and security/compliance governance.

Responsibilities

• Administer, monitor, and continuously improve the SAP S/4HANA landscape
• Analyze technical issues and develop/align viable solutions for basis, interface, and operations topics
• Implement and locally adapt SAP security, operations, and technical standards; support modernization and transformation initiatives
• Coordinate SAP Enterprise Cloud Services, SAP Cloud Application Services, and other service providers (quality assurance, escalation management, action tracking)
• Plan and execute system updates, support packages, kernel updates, patches, maintenance windows, and performance optimizations
• Ensure adherence to corporate security, compliance, and audit requirements, including SAP hardening, technical authorizations, and documented operations processes
• Support process owners and application/development teams with technical questions, error analysis, deployments, and handover to run mode
• Contribute to and coordinate SAP migrations, upgrades, system copies, and transformation projects
• Own monitoring, operations, troubleshooting, optimization, and further development of SAP interfaces to third-party and downstream systems
• Develop governance, quality, and operations standards for SAP Basis and integration (transport, change, incident, and problem management)
• Improve stability, security, performance, automation, and transparency using measurable operational data and established best practices

Requirements

• Degree in a relevant field (or equivalent IT training with relevant experience)
• Multi-year experience in SAP Basis and technical application operations for productive SAP S/4HANA/SAP HANA systems (preferably RISE with SAP)
• Experience steering external SAP operations services (updates/upgrades/migrations/system copies/transformations)
• Strong knowledge of SAP Basis landscape: application servers, SAP HANA, OS, networking, cloud connectivity, and infrastructure components
• Monitoring, performance analysis, root-cause analysis, automation, and structured incident resolution experience
• Expertise in SAP interface technologies: IDoc, RFC, OData, SOAP, REST APIs, web services; experience with SAP Process Orchestration and SAP Integration Suite (or comparable)
• Familiarity with SAP Application Lifecycle Management and transport/change management; monitoring tools such as SAP Solution Manager, SAP Focused Run, SAP Cloud ALM
• Experience with incident/problem/change/release management; strong quality/stability/security/service mindset
• Experience with SAP Enterprise Cloud Services, SAP Cloud Application Services (or similar providers) and ability to manage external services
• Strong analytical skills, structured error analysis, and hands-on solution orientation
• Independent, proactive, reliable working style with clear communication in agile, interdisciplinary, international teams
• Very good German and English; additional languages welcome
