Role Description

DevOps Engineer with Kafka responsible for establishing production readiness at scale for a distributed, event-driven system handling very high transaction volumes.

Responsibilities

• Ensure scalability and performance via capacity planning, horizontal scaling, autoscaling, and performance tuning
• Conduct load and stress testing against throughput targets
• Implement observability using golden-signal metrics, centralized logging, distributed tracing, dashboards, alerting, and runbooks
• Improve messaging reliability with partitioning/consumer design, retry and DLQ, idempotency, schema governance, and backpressure
• Own data protection and resilience: backup/restore with regular tests, replication/sharding, and RPO/RTO playbooks and exercises
• Drive reliable release and deployment with CI/CD quality gates, canary/blue-green deployments, automated rollback, and feature flags
• Provide SRE governance: SLI/SLO and error budgets, incident response, on-call, and postmortems
• Reliability by design improvements as the system goes to production

Requirements

• Proven track record delivering distributed, event-driven, high-throughput systems to production
• Solid DevOps/SRE best practices knowledge and ability to translate them into concrete, pragmatic solutions
• Production experience with Kafka and MongoDB
• Fluent English; German is an advantage
• Ability to start ASAP
