Description

Bridge schema design, SRE, and infrastructure automation to keep core data systems healthy. Optimize query performance and system scalability while proactively addressing scaling bottlenecks, sharding, and replication topologies. Continuously improve observability, efficiency, and disaster recovery posture.

Responsibilities

  • Own observability, monitoring, and alerting of production database clusters and replication topologies
  • Optimize database engine configurations for performance, stability, compliance, and security
  • Design scalable database schemas and storage architectures for high-growth workloads
  • Implement scaling strategies such as sharding, partitioning, and high-availability clustering
  • Triage critical production database incidents and implement long-term preventative engineering solutions
  • Lead disaster recovery testing, data classification, and major engine upgrade initiatives
  • Automate deployments and environments by building cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code
  • Partner with software teams on migrations, schema reviews, and query optimization
  • Provide authoritative database engineering guidance in systemic architecture reviews
  • Automate operational tasks and third-party API integrations using scripting languages

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience designing, implementing, and operating relational databases in production
  • 3+ years of DevOps, SRE, or software engineering experience
  • Production-scale relational database expertise (MySQL, PostgreSQL) including backups, replication topologies, indexing, and partitioning
  • Advanced knowledge of database architecture, data modeling, query optimization, and high-availability/backup & recovery
  • Infrastructure as Code experience (Terraform, CloudFormation, Pulumi, or CDK) in public cloud environments (e.g., AWS)
  • Programming skills for automation and integrations (Python, Golang)
  • Operational familiarity with Linux, Docker, and Kubernetes or ECS
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab, TravisCI, CircleCI, Jenkins)
  • Experience deploying monitoring/observability platforms (Datadog, New Relic)
  • Ability to use AI tools to improve workflows and outputs
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/IT or equivalent experience
