Product Manager, Residential Energy Products (APAC)

Mid

Alexandria, NS, Australia

Quick Facts

  • Own product workstreams for APAC residential energy launches and VPP/partner integrations
  • Collaborate across hardware, software, and firmware, plus external market/grid stakeholders
  • Translate customer and grid needs into product and engineering requirements

Description

Own defined workstreams across product launches, market enablement, and VPP/partner integrations for APAC residential energy products. You will model and communicate value streams (e.g., backup, self-consumption, time-of-use, VPP revenue, FCAS) while ensuring products meet regional market and grid requirements. You will drive pilots, success metrics, partner training content, certification, and commercialization to closure.

Responsibilities

  • Drive workstreams to closure across product launches, market enablement, and VPP/partner integrations
  • Identify customer, partner, and grid-operator problems and translate them into detailed product and engineering requirements
  • Serve core users including partners, installers, VPP/retail partners, network operators, and homeowners
  • Collaborate with internal teams (firmware, software, hardware, sales, service) and external parties (certified installers, VPP partners, DNSPs, regulators)
  • Contribute to APAC certification and market-entry work (grid-connection standards and country-specific compliance)
  • Track product/feature success metrics, run pilots, analyze results, and improve commissioning, reliability, and VPP participation
  • Enable commercialization via partner training content, field feedback, and collaboration with engineering teams

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of product management experience, ideally on hardware-plus-software products
  • Solid product specification and electrical-concepts knowledge for Powerwall/solar/VPP products (or ability to build quickly)
  • Familiarity with distributed energy product economics: solar, battery storage, rate plans/time-of-use savings, VPP revenue, and ancillary services like FCAS
  • Exposure to energy markets or grid-connection regimes (AEMO, DNSPs, CSIP-AUS, AS/NZS 4777) or strong appetite to develop quickly with coaching
  • Degree in Engineering, Data Science, Business, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Proven ability to own an end-to-end moderate-complexity workstream, prioritizing by impact and escalating when the playbook doesn’t fit
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional and external partner collaboration

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation package
  • Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP): buy Tesla stock twice per year with a 15% discount
  • Parental leave; primary carers (18 weeks full pay or 36 weeks half pay); secondary carers (6 weeks full pay)
