Description

You will architect and develop multi-tenant platforms running on OpenStack and VMware, including the ongoing shift of the operating model toward colocation. The role covers datacenter, network, security, storage and compute architecture, platform blueprints, operating concepts, and scaling models. You will also provide technical PreSales support and participate in an on-call rotation.

Responsibilities

• Architecture and further development of multi-tenant platforms (OpenStack/VMware)
• Design datacenter, network, and security architecture (backbone, firewalls, segmentation)
• Design and integrate networking, security, storage, and compute components
• Create platform blueprints, operating concepts, and scaling models
• Perform sizing and capacity planning for compute, storage, and network resources
• Design new cloud services and help shape the service portfolio
• Evaluate new technologies and assess them for platform use
• Provide PreSales support for architecture design, capacity planning, and effort estimates (about 10–15% of time)
• Create and maintain architecture documentation, standards, and guidelines
• Act as a technical sparring partner for engineers, consultants, and team leads
• Participate in team on-call rotation

Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science or comparable qualification
• Multi-year experience designing and operating complex cloud and datacenter infrastructures, including at least three years designing multi-tenant platforms
• Excellent expertise in OpenStack and/or VMware (vSphere, NSX, vSAN, vCloud Director)
• Deep knowledge of datacenter network architecture, enterprise storage, and security concepts
• Experience designing tenant-isolated (mandant-capable) platforms
• Practical experience with automation and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Ansible, APIs)
• Ability to communicate complex architectures, make decisions, and defend them
• Experience collaborating with PreSales and customers at a technical level
• Willingness to join on-call duty
• Willingness to attend onsite and customer/PreSales meetings about 2–4 days per month
• Very good German and English language skills
• Relevant certifications are a plus
