Description

Set up, configure, and operate databases—ideally on Microsoft Azure—both on-premises and in Azure. You’ll be responsible for administration, monitoring, performance analysis/optimization, high availability, and backup/recovery. You’ll also support troubleshooting and contribute to migrations and modernization toward Azure.

Responsibilities

• Advise on the right database choice for each application; set up and configure databases, preferably on Microsoft Azure

• Operate, administer, and further develop databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MS SQL, Oracle) on-premises and in Azure

• Install, configure, and manage patching of database systems

• Monitor and analyze performance; optimize database landscapes

• Ensure high availability and implement backup and recovery strategies

• Analyze and resolve issues during live operations (troubleshooting)

• Support migrations and modernization initiatives toward Azure

• Advise developers and business teams on database-related topics

Requirements

• Experience with Azure Data Services (Azure SQL, PostgreSQL, Cosmos DB)

• Experience in administration of database systems (PostgreSQL, MS SQL, Oracle)

• Experience with monitoring, performance tuning, and troubleshooting

• Knowledge of backup, recovery, and security concepts

• Understanding of database architectures and data modeling

• Ideally first hands-on experience with cloud technologies such as Microsoft Azure

• Structured, solution-oriented working style and enjoyment of operating stable, high-performance systems

• Knowledge of automation (e.g., scripting, Infrastructure as Code)
