Description

Own the design and delivery of scalable backend services and APIs. You will work extensively with Node.js/JavaScript and PostgreSQL (writing pure SQL) to build and evolve data-intensive production applications. You’ll make architecture decisions focused on performance, reliability, and maintainability while clearly communicating trade-offs.

Responsibilities

• Build and evolve scalable backend services and APIs

• Write pure SQL and work directly with the database (not only via an ORM)

• Design solutions for data-intensive production applications

• Make architectural decisions emphasizing performance, reliability, and maintainability

• Take ownership of features from idea and planning through production

• Collaborate with a distributed engineering team and communicate technical decisions and trade-offs

Requirements

• Senior-level backend and API engineering experience

• Strong hands-on Node.js and JavaScript experience

• Strong PostgreSQL expertise, including pure SQL without an ORM

• Proven experience building scalable, data-intensive production applications

• Strong API design and development skills

• Solid experience with backend architecture, testing, and maintainability

• Demonstrated end-to-end ownership of features

• Ability to explain technical decisions and trade-offs clearly
