Description

Lead the detection-to-response mission protecting the operational network by managing security engineers responsible for network security telemetry, detection engineering, and incident response. You will define and execute the strategy for high-fidelity threat detection, driving adoption of AI/ML-powered anomaly detection, alert prioritization, and automated triage. You will own measurable outcomes across AWS’s global infrastructure at unprecedented scale.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of security engineers for detection engineering, incident response, and security operations

• Own the end-to-end detection lifecycle from signal generation to incident resolution

• Drive adoption of AI/ML-powered detection and response, including anomaly detection and automated triage

• Maintain low false-positive rates and consistent, measurable incident response outcomes

• Partner with Infrastructure Security teams to close detection gaps and reduce MTDT/MTTR

• Establish and track operational metrics for detection coverage, on-call health, and readiness

• Recruit, mentor, and retain security engineering talent and foster operational excellence

• Communicate security posture, active threats, and strategic priorities to senior leadership

• Continuously improve via automation, tooling investments, and process optimization

Requirements

• 5+ years managing and developing teams

• 5+ years progressive experience within a software security team or related operating environment

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field

• Knowledge of security of web services, video content protection technologies, cryptography, network security protocols, and operating system security

• Experience applying threat modeling or other risk identification techniques (or equivalent)
