• Role: Backend Developer (PHP-focused)

Description

You will maintain and develop existing educational and training systems, including working with legacy code that may have incomplete documentation. Responsibilities include analyzing code, diagnosing and resolving issues, adding new features based on business needs, and ensuring high code quality and correct technical documentation. Occasionally, you may also support projects using newer technologies such as microservices, APIs, and RabbitMQ.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and develop existing educational/training systems

• Work with legacy code (sometimes without full documentation)

• Analyze existing code and troubleshoot problems

• Implement new functionality aligned with business requirements

• Ensure high quality of delivered code

• Own the correctness of the project’s technical documentation

• Collaborate closely with other IT functions (e.g., customer support, marketing)

• Occasionally participate in projects using newer technologies (microservices, APIs, RabbitMQ)

Requirements

• Very good knowledge of PHP (PHP 8.3/8.4, and/or PHP 5.6)

• Experience with at least one SQL database (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, or MS SQL)

• Strong analytical skills for navigating complex multi-module codebases and connecting related code elements

• Working knowledge of PHP frameworks at least at a good level (Symfony, Laravel, Zend, CodeIgniter, or Yii)

• Knowledge of design patterns

• Experience with Git and Composer

• REST API knowledge

• Knowledge of tools required to maintain high code quality

• Ability to integrate services (API, REST/SOAP, XML, CSV)

• Basic front-end stack knowledge (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
