Description

You will contribute significantly to the development and technical direction of real-time web software for lab automation. The role includes improving the stack with a focus on security, data integrity, maintainability, and developer experience, while working closely with scientists to translate workflows into user stories. You will also lead architecture/design/code reviews and deliver features end-to-end.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the development and technical direction of real-time web software

• Improve the stack (security, data integrity, maintainability, developer experience)

• Lead and participate in architecture, design, and code reviews

• Deliver features end-to-end: implementation, testing, user feedback, and support

• Collaborate with scientists to turn workflows into user stories and technical tasks

• Mentor junior developers and support onboarding

• Improve engineering practices (reviews, testing, delivery processes)

• Clarify requirements, plan implementation, gather feedback from internal tests, and challenge feature requests

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software development experience

• Proven experience developing, debugging, and deploying software in real-world applications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience

• Experience contributing to or leading end-to-end projects (ideally with team coordination or mentoring)

• Experience with the relevant tech stack or comparable technologies

• Solid understanding of real-time software and relevant protocols, including meaningful performance optimizations

• Experience with UI/UX and consistent design systems; ability to evaluate feature requests against product goals

• Familiarity with version control, CI/CD, and modern software development workflows

• Strong communication skills in English and German (min. C1 or equivalent)

• Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment with changing needs and requirements
