Electrical Component Engineer II

Quick Facts

• Manage Bills of Materials (BOMs) for component lifecycle status, including identification and tracking of obsolescence, at risk, or end-of-life (EOL) parts, part change notifications (PCN), and compliance (RoHS, REACH, POP, Prop 65, CE, UL, etc.).

Description

The role focuses on BOM health management for electronics components: assessing PCNs for impact, performing technical component evaluation to propose alternates and qualification strategies, and supporting sustaining R&D engineers with qualification efforts and documentation. It also supports engineering change orders (ECOs) and related documentation releases to contract manufacturers, while exploring component cost-down opportunities with category managers and sustaining R&D.

Responsibilities

• Manage BOMs for component lifecycle status and track obsolescence/EOL parts.
• Identify and track obsolescence, at-risk, and EOL parts; handle PCN and compliance requirements.
• Interface with internal teams and external partners to obtain obsolescence data for BOM Health Analysis.
• Host periodic meetings with sustaining and NPD teams to improve awareness of BOM health.
• Assess PCNs for impact assessment and drive appropriate actions to stakeholders.
• Perform technical component evaluation and propose alternate component selection and qualification strategy.
• Support sustaining R&D engineers with qualification efforts (benchtop testing, EMC chamber, etc.) and documentation reports.
• Explore component cost-down opportunities with category managers and sustaining R&D.
• Support ECOs and related documentation releases to contract manufacturers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 4 years of experience.
• Ability to interpret electrical schematics and technical datasheets.
• Familiarity with BOMs and ECAD (Altium), CAD Viewer (Solidworks, Viewer), PLM systems (Windchill, Teamcenter, Agile), ERP (JDE, SAP), and Requirements Management Systems (PTC Integrity, Polarion).
• Knowledge of obsolescence management tools (e.g., Silicon Expert, IHS Markit, Octopart).
• Proficient in data analysis tools such as Power BI or Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables).
• Strong foundation in circuit analysis in power, analog, and digital electronics circuitry.
• Experience working in a fast-paced environment with time-sensitive deadlines.
• Demonstrated creative thinking and problem-solving toolbox.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite Tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
• Basic understanding of manufacturing processes.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision to complete tasks.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong collaborative and interpersonal relationship skills across multiple job levels.
