Primary Responsibilities
- Lead electrical engineering and design of temporary power generation facilities from conceptual design through startup and commissioning
- Design medium- and low-voltage electrical distribution systems (generators, switchgear, transformers, motor control centers, breakers, relaying, protective devices)
- Design and integrate Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), including battery technologies, PCS, energy management systems (EMS), and grid-support applications
- Develop substation designs (transformer selection, bus arrangements, protection schemes, grounding systems, utility interconnections)
- Design DC control systems (station batteries, battery chargers, relay panels, annunciation systems, SCADA interfaces, auxiliary power systems)
- Develop one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, protection and control schematics, cable schedules, and construction packages
- Perform electrical engineering calculations: load flow analysis, short-circuit studies, protective relay coordination, arc flash analysis, grounding studies, voltage drop calculations, equipment sizing
- Design synchronization and generator paralleling systems for temporary and permanent installations
- Develop automatic transfer schemes and control philosophies for critical power applications
- Ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA, IEEE, NESC, UL, ANSI, and applicable utility standards
- Collaborate with mechanical engineers to integrate natural gas, cooling, fuel systems, and auxiliary equipment into complete power generation facilities
- Provide engineering leadership throughout project execution (design reviews, procurement support, construction support, commissioning, and operational troubleshooting)
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to engineering and operations teams
- Coordinate with project managers, contractors, vendors, utilities, and customers to deliver projects safely, on schedule, and within budget
- Evaluate emerging technologies in energy storage, distributed generation, microgrids, and renewable integration to improve system performance and reliability
