Description

The Unitary Systems Engineer is responsible for the implementation and continuous development of Systems Engineering tools and practices in support of product development and architecture governance. This key position manages requirements management, systems interface management, and technical documentation needed for systematic design and governance of the commercial unitary architecture portfolio.

Responsibilities

• Participate in all phases of the product development life cycle (NPD, NTP, and “Always On” systems management).
• Own the Requirements Management process, including decomposition of stakeholder needs into functional system requirements with cross-functional stakeholders and engineering SMEs.
• Own Systems Interface Management and critical interface documentation with module owners and the CAD Design team.
• Establish, maintain, and expand definitions of Systems Engineering tools to support portfolio architecture governance.
• Serve as an active member of the Global Systems Engineering Council and lead aspects of the RTCM workstream.
• Work with Unitary Architects on architecture governance.
• Work with Engineering Project Leads to manage project-level system and module requirements.
• Support additional Systems Engineering practices including the “V-model,” system diagrams, and FMEAs.
• Occasionally lead New Technology Projects in support of architecture needs.
• Support implementation of Systems Engineering and product development processes and champion improvements.
• Train/mentor Systems Architects, Engineering Leads, and Module Owners on systems engineering tools and processes.
• Champion architecture integrity through the product lifecycle.
• Work independently with minimal supervision.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering
• 7+ years of product development experience in HVAC or similar industry
• Master's Degree in Engineering (plus)
• Master's Degree or certificate in Systems Engineering (plus)
• INCOSE ASEP/CSEP/ESEP certification (plus)
• Knowledge and experience with Systems Engineering tools and requirements
• Knowledge of design and architecture tools and principles
• Strong foundation in cabinets/structures, refrigeration, airflow, heat or similar subsystems
• High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Organizational courage to raise issues and provide solutions
• Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with teams in multiple locations
• Product development knowledge
