Description

The Pre-Order MV SWGR Designer Electrical – UL partners with the AMER Sales Team and the UL SWGR product management team to evaluate Medium Voltage Switchgear opportunities from an overall electrical design point of view. The role analyzes and performs initial electrical design/estimating, working with the AMER pricing team to build an estimate that supports customer quoting, including partnering with the Vertiv Unify team to understand the controls and relay design for the overall system.

Responsibilities

• Work with the MV SWGR estimating team (pricing) to analyze customer design requirements and support the CDE (Comply, Deviate, Exception) Process.
• Provide design feedback and trends from the CDE process to the MV SWGR – UL product management team so that product portfolio roadmaps can be adjusted based on market trends.
• Prepare electrical schematics and designs to support the pre-order quotation process (panel schedules, one lines, control logic diagrams) used as the design basis if the order is won.
• Work with MV breaker and MV relay suppliers to understand performance characteristics incorporated into the final solution.
• Support procurement through MV electrical component analysis to identify competitive supply chains.
• If required, support MV SWGR R&D by writing FAT (factory acceptance test) plans for the quote process and ultimate execution.
• Design VAVE (value add/value engineer) alternatives so MV SWGR quotes deliver the highest quality solution at the most competitive market price.

Requirements

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience in product engineering, manufacturing or marketing in the MV SWGR space.
• Masters in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering beneficial but not required.
• Demonstrated experience in Engineering / Supply Chain or Manufacturing Operations working with cross-functional teams to identify and execute on priority actions.
• Ability to drive and accept change and continuous improvement processes.
• Demonstrated skills with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel (Smartsheet and Power BI beneficial).
• AutoCAD, Solid Works, and Creo experience beneficial.
• Ability to interface directly with customers and Sales at executive and technical levels.
• Experience leading cross-functional meetings and presenting to small groups in person and via Microsoft Teams/Zoom.
• NPDI and PLM experience.
• Demonstrated curiosity and a lifelong learner.
