Description

The technical partnership manager will develop and implement a telecom carrier engagement strategy to deepen existing relationships and expand partnerships across the US, North America, and internationally. The role focuses on negotiating carrier agreements to enable network access and sufficient in-flight data connectivity, defining business models for connectivity usage and costs, and setting certification priorities so drones meet regulator and telecom operator standards.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the strategy for engaging telecom carriers to deepen relationships and expand the ecosystem to new partners
  • Negotiate agreements with telecom carriers to enable network access, provide sufficient data connectivity, and build sustainable business partnerships
  • Advocate for customers’ in-flight data connectivity needs by providing simple, easy-to-use connectivity options from the first boot after unboxing
  • Build business models supporting in-flight data access; monitor usage and costs to validate models
  • Set regulatory and telecom carrier certification priorities to ensure drones meet certification standards for regulators and telecom operators
  • Build field relationships between telecom partners and the field team to support major events (e.g., sports games, parades, public gatherings)
  • Assist mission success by supporting customers and major incidents

Requirements

  • Demonstrated track record of translating customer needs into priorities and driving implementation (e.g., complex implementation projects, building products, or building complex business relationships)
  • Ability to handle complex processes with multiple moving parts by breaking them into meaningful steps and communicating progress (technical program like device certification and business process like negotiating telecom contracts)
  • Strong analytical skills; ability to communicate plans throughout internal teams and partner organizations
  • Comfort with multiple complex projects and overlapping deadlines
  • Technical background through an engineering/technical degree (e.g., computer science, telecommunications, scientific field) and/or work experience managing complex technical requirements

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior work at a growth-stage start-up
  • Interest or experience in wireless communication
  • Experience with telecommunications (including familiarity with carrier infrastructure/protocols)
  • Familiarity or interest in applying new 5G features such as dynamic slicing, high-reliability and low-latency communications, and radio resource management for airborne devices
