Description
The Senior Principal Product Manager leads the card solutions product line by clearly communicating and driving product strategy, direction, and vision. The role maintains and advances the roadmap and strategy in alignment with the overall product-line strategy, acts as the product champion to drive adoption, and partners with marketing and channels to develop and execute the go-to-market strategy. It also serves as the go-to subject matter expert for the payments industry and competition while coordinating with application development, AOD, finance, sales, sales operations, legal, and business analysts to ensure products are delivered on time and within budget.
Responsibilities
- Elicit and validate stakeholder requirements; conduct research and data gathering to analyze and determine appropriate solutions; manage the full requirements process including documentation preparation and presentation
- Act as primary product and target market subject matter expert; understand competitive landscape; define market and segments; identify customer/prospect problems and market opportunities; build, update, and communicate product line vision, strategy, and 5-year roadmap
- Drive positioning and product portfolio interaction and integration; define and execute distribution strategy to achieve growth targets at desired margin; sponsor innovation aligned to the strategic plan
- Define product release requirements and cadence for a product line to achieve the strategic plan, increasing market share across the payment processing lifecycle
- Articulate product value proposition and positioning; provide input to solution/product marketing for GTM; support launch team; ensure sales enablement tools and training delivery; evangelize to stakeholders; monitor launch effectiveness; provide thought leadership via conferences, blogs, and published papers
- Manage pricing and packaging as profit and market penetration levers; monitor key performance indicators and implement corrective actions; manage product across its entire lifecycle including investment levels; determine sunset timing and execute sunset policies and processes
- Establish 5-year and 1-year financial goals using the 4 P&L model for Maintenance, Products, AOD, and Services performance; determine optimal investment levels for 5-year margin performance; establish operating budget through capacity planning demand drivers; use stage gate process to secure funding; develop business cases; monitor performance and forecast future results with proactive measures
- Improve processes and tools with positive organizational impact
- Responsible for over 50% revenue for the product line
- Adhere to corporate policies including Code of Business Conduct and Ethics
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- 8-12 years related experience in an industry role such as technical support, product management, or product development with exposure to marketing
- Deep and broad understanding and experience in all aspects of product management, including:
- Elicit: stakeholder information gathering, payments stakeholder research, use of paper-based and automated tools for input, Voice-of-Customer techniques, and requirement validation
- Analyze: prioritize requirements, organize and synthesize information, use analysis/modeling techniques, ensure requirements meet market and business needs
- Manage: recommend buy/build/partner delivery for features/functions
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of the payments industry, customer base, applied technology, products, competitive offerings, and market drivers
- Ability to create quality, easy-to-understand papers and presentations
- Travel required, including international
- Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
