Data Engineer – AI-Accelerated Development (Snowflake, Airflow, Python)

The Work

  • Design, build, and operate scalable ELT/ETL pipelines using data from APIs, databases, event streams, and third-party systems.
  • Develop and maintain orchestration workflows in Apache Airflow with monitoring, observability, retries, and alerting.
  • Build and optimize data models in Snowflake and Databricks that power analytics, reporting, and AI applications.
  • Improve data quality through validation, testing, monitoring, and lineage.
  • Investigate production incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and implement long-term fixes.
  • Collaborate with analytics engineers, data scientists, product teams, and software engineers.
  • Contribute to engineering standards, including testing, Git workflows, CI/CD, documentation, and code reviews.
  • Leverage AI coding tools, such as GitHub Copilot, Codex, and Cursor, to accelerate development while maintaining quality.

The work location may include a mix of remote work, onsite work at a client, and work in an office, depending on project circumstances. Some in-person time is expected for collaboration, learning, and relationship building.

Here’s What You’ll Need

  • Strong SQL skills, including complex queries, CTEs, window functions, and performance optimization.
  • Experience with Python for data engineering and automation.
  • Experience with modern cloud data warehouses, such as Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, or Synapse.
  • Experience building pipelines using Apache Airflow or similar orchestration tools.
  • Experience operating production data systems with a focus on reliability and maintainability.
  • Experience using Git and collaborative software engineering practices.
  • Strong ownership mindset and ability to work in fast-changing environments.
  • Effective communication with technical and business stakeholders.
  • Experience using AI coding assistants and the ability to critically review generated code.

Bonus Points If You Have

  • Experience with Databricks, Apache Spark, or Delta Lake.
  • Familiarity with DBT, Kafka, Kinesis, or other streaming technologies.
  • Experience with Terraform, Infrastructure as Code, or CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience building AI or ML data pipelines.
