MSSQL Migration Expert | Hybrid Wroclaw

We are currently looking for talented and experienced MSSQL Migration Experts to join a long-term project with an international automotive organization operating across Europe and parts of Western Asia.

Must-Have

• 10+ years' experience in MSSQL database administration with a strong focus on end-to-end SQL Server migration projects
• Deep knowledge of MSSQL database architecture, internals, and inter-version compatibility relevant to migration planning
• Proven expertise in SQL Server version upgrades and cross-version migrations (e.g. SQL Server 2012/2014/2016 to 2019/2022), including in-place and side-by-side migration strategies
• Hands-on experience migrating databases across SQL Server versions 2012, 2014, 2016, 2019, and 2022, including schema, data, and job migrations
• Strong experience in pre-migration assessment, compatibility-level analysis, and applying fixes to ensure smooth cutover in large SQL environments
• Experience designing and configuring High-Availability solutions (Always On AG, Log Shipping) as part of migration architecture and post-migration validation
• Experience in post-migration performance baseline comparison, query plan regression analysis, and tuning to restore or improve performance after migration
• Experience migrating SQL Server BI components including SSRS, SSIS, and SSAS across versions; ability to validate and remediate compatibility issues post-migration
• Hands-on experience with cloud migration paths for SQL Server, including on-premises to Azure SQL MI, Azure SQL DB, Amazon RDS for SQL Server, and hybrid migration scenarios
• Experience using SQL Server replication and Change Data Capture (CDC) as migration strategies for minimal-downtime and zero-downtime database migrations
• Expertise in migration-critical tasks including backup/restore-based migrations, SQL Agent job migration, login and permission mapping, and post-migration health monitoring
• Strong experience in PowerShell and T-SQL scripting to automate migration tasks, schema comparisons, data validation, and cutover runbooks
• Experience leading migration assessment workshops, producing migration plans, risk registers, and recommending Microsoft best practices for version uplift and modernisation
• Experience establishing Disaster Recovery environments as part of migration safeguards
• Strong Project Management skills to coordinate complex, multi-workstream migration programmes

Good To Have

• Experience using GitHub for migration runbook version control and Terraform/ARM templates for automated target-environment provisioning
• Experience with heterogeneous database migrations (e.g. Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB to SQL Server) using tools such as SSMA (SQL Server Migration Assistant)
