Senior Software Engineer (Node.js)

Contract duration: ~6 months (with possible extension)

What you'll do

• Own a backend end to end, as the only Node engineer on the team — design the service, build it, ship it, and defend the decisions in front of the client.
• Build integration layers over systems you don't control: e-commerce platforms, payment gateways and LLM APIs. The API on the other side might be sometimes incomplete, undocumented or occasionally wrong.
• Work with modern AI tooling and continuously test new tools.

What you should bring

• Real curiosity and an interest in where backend and AI are heading.
• English at C1 — you'll be the technical voice in front of the client.
• 5+ years of commercial backend experience, including at least 3 years in Node.js and TypeScript, plus NestJS production experience.
• Expert modern TypeScript and ES6+, API design in REST and GraphQL, and contract-first work with OpenAPI.
• Advanced SQL on PostgreSQL, including data modelling and query optimisation; TypeORM or Prisma; queues, message buses, workers and scheduled jobs.
• Ability to independently deploy a service to Azure, AWS or GCP; Docker, CI/CD fundamentals, three-environment work, Git and code review.
• Fluency with coding agents such as Claude Code, Cursor and Codex: driving the agent, reviewing its output and treating the specification as the source of truth.
• Willingness to communicate early when a solution will not fit, including to non-technical stakeholders.
