Backend Engineer (Node.js)

Responsibilities

• Join an international project team as part of a growing engineering group with a shared technology stack.
• Design, develop, and maintain server-side Node.js applications and services.
• Build and maintain system/data integration solutions, including data analysis, transformation, and validation.
• Design and implement REST-like APIs.
• Contribute to distributed systems architecture, applying sound design patterns for robustness, scaling, elasticity, consistency, replication, asynchrony, parallelism, and failure handling.
• Work with AWS serverless services: Lambda, SQS, CloudWatch, and S3; where applicable, use DynamoDB, DocumentDB, and streaming services.
• Optionally design, develop, and maintain Terraform infrastructure-as-code configurations for AWS.
• Collaborate using the GitHub tool suite, including branching strategies, CI/CD with GitHub Actions, and issue/ticket tracking.
• Operate in a Linux environment, using shell scripting for day-to-day tasks.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in Node.js (server-side JavaScript) development.
• 2+ years of experience in system/data integration, including data analysis, transformation, and validation.
• 1+ years of experience working with distributed systems and a solid understanding of design patterns for robustness, scaling, elasticity, consistency, replication, asynchrony, parallelism, and failure handling.
• 2+ years of experience in REST-like API design and implementation.
• Basic knowledge of designing, developing, operating, and troubleshooting AWS services; serverless-focused experience with Lambda, SQS, CloudWatch, and S3 is required.
• Solid knowledge of the GitHub tool suite, including branching concepts, CI/CD with GitHub Actions, and issues/tickets.
• Basic knowledge of Linux command-line tools and shell scripting.
• Good English communication and team collaboration skills.

Nice to Have

• Experience designing, developing, and maintaining Terraform infrastructure-as-code configurations for AWS services.
• Knowledge of DynamoDB, DocumentDB, and streaming services.
