As a Splunk Monitoring & Observability Engineer within GTS Enterprise System Management, you will shape, secure, and evolve observability capabilities supporting critical services. This role requires deep, hands-on expertise with Splunk Enterprise. You will act as a technical authority, driving design, standards, and complex implementations across monitoring, automation, and observability.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the operational reliability, resilience, stability, and continuous improvement of monitoring and observability platforms in a hybrid, complex environment, with accountability for sustainable service outcomes.
- Act as a senior technical leader for support activities, including incidents, alerts, changes, and problem management; drive sustainable resolution of recurring issues and corrective actions on high-impact topics.
- Collaborate with IT experts, engineering teams, and stakeholders to capture, challenge, and prioritize monitoring requirements, aligning delivery choices with objectives, risk constraints, and strategic priorities.
- Design and lead implementation of monitoring, alerting, dashboarding, log ingestion, and automation solutions aligned with business, operational, architecture, and control requirements.
- Lead architecture and design discussions across infrastructure and application domains; ensure solutions are sustainable, secure, scalable, and fit for purpose.
- Drive standardization, industrialization, governance, and strategic evolution of Enterprise System Management solutions, including monitoring, observability, and Flexera; define best practices and technical guardrails.
- Develop and maintain automation solutions to reduce manual effort, improve service quality and controls, and enhance scalability.
- Ensure compliance with operational standards, security requirements, and controls in a highly regulated environment.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship through coaching on solution design, troubleshooting, operational excellence, standards, and capability growth.
- Take ownership of complex cross-team initiatives and influence the technical roadmap for observability and automation capabilities.
- Create and maintain technical documentation and operational procedures.
- Participate in the Watch-Duty rotation and support out-of-hours activities, including weekend releases and critical interventions, when required.
Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- At least 5 years of experience in senior engineering roles with ownership of complex technical topics.
- Hands-on expertise in Splunk administration, configuration, data onboarding, search, dashboards, and alerting.
- Automation/scripting skills with Ansible, PowerShell, or Python.
- Linux, Windows, and network technology experience.
- Ability to lead technical discussions, influence key design decisions, challenge proposals, and engage constructively with stakeholders across technology domains.
- Strong analytical skills, a structured and proactive mindset, and the ability to work autonomously on complex and ambiguous topics while balancing technical excellence, operational stability, control requirements, and customer needs.
- Ability to lead change in tools, processes, and ways of working; willingness to share expertise, coach others, and contribute to team growth.
- Ability to define standards, promote engineering best practices, and influence technical direction beyond assigned tasks.
- Agile working experience; ability to operate under pressure, handle complex situations, and meet strict deadlines.
- Fluent English.

- Dynatrace, Cribl, Tivoli Monitoring, Netcool Omnibus, Flexera, and OpenTelemetry.
- Azure, OpenShift, AIOps, anomaly detection, and AI-assisted observability.
- Other observability and monitoring solutions.
