Product Owner / Business Analyst

We are looking for an experienced Product Manager / Business Analyst to join a major Core Banking transformation programme within the financial services sector.

The role will work closely with business stakeholders, architects, engineering teams, data specialists and third-party technology providers to define, prioritise and deliver capabilities supporting mortgage products and servicing processes.

The successful candidate will combine strong product management and business analysis skills, with a good understanding of mortgages, core banking platforms and data-driven decision-making. Experience with Thought Machine Vault would be highly desirable.

Product and Backlog Management

• Own and maintain the product backlog for one or more Core Banking workstreams.
• Translate programme objectives and business priorities into a clear product roadmap and delivery backlog.
• Define and prioritise epics, features and user stories based on business value, customer impact, regulatory requirements, technical dependencies and delivery risk.
• Work with stakeholders to agree priorities and resolve competing requirements.
• Ensure the development team has a well-defined and appropriately prioritised pipeline of work.
• Support sprint planning, backlog refinement, release planning and wider programme planning activities.
• Monitor delivery progress and adjust priorities where required.

Business Analysis and Requirements Definition

• Engage with business stakeholders and subject-matter experts to understand mortgage products, operational processes and business needs.
• Analyse existing processes, systems, data flows and customer journeys to identify gaps and improvement opportunities.
• Define clear functional and non-functional requirements.
• Produce high-quality epics, user stories, process flows, acceptance criteria, business rules and supporting documentation.
• Ensure requirements are sufficiently detailed, testable and understood by engineering, quality assurance and business teams.
• Facilitate workshops, requirements-gathering sessions and solution-design discussions.
• Manage requirements traceability from initial business need through development, testing and implementation.
• Support the resolution of requirements-related questions and issues throughout the delivery lifecycle.

Mortgage and Core Banking Domain

• Apply knowledge of mortgage products and servicing processes to support the design and implementation of Core Banking capabilities.
• Work across areas such as mortgage account creation, interest calculation, payments, fees, balances, statements, arrears, redemption, account servicing and financial reporting.
• Understand how mortgage products and servicing events are represented within a Core Banking platform.
• Support the definition of product configuration, account behaviours, transaction processing and business rules.
• Collaborate with technical teams and platform specialists to ensure solutions meet business and operational requirements.

Data Analysis

• Analyse account, transaction and operational data to validate requirements, investigate issues and support business decisions.
• Define data requirements, mappings, validation rules and reconciliation criteria.
• Work with source systems, Core Banking platforms, data warehouses and reporting teams to understand end-to-end data flows.
• Use data to identify patterns, exceptions, migration issues and potential operational risks.
• Support data quality, migration reconciliation and financial control activities.
• Define reporting and management-information requirements where required.
• Present complex data findings clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Stakeholder and Delivery Collaboration

• Act as the primary link between business stakeholders and the development team.
