Why this role needs you

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Content Creation team, you will work on real-time applications. As one of the core applications, the team is one of the first stops customers make when using the platform. You will help shape the future of content generation.

The Content Creation team owns the Notes and Canvas products. Its functionality is used by large cohorts of users, not only administrators. The team operates a real-time service using web sockets to deliver real-time editing; it is a complex product area focused on one of the most vital products. Development is primarily front-end with React.js, while backend work primarily uses Node.js.

What you’ll do

  • Develop high-quality, scalable, responsive software using modern technologies.
  • Write clean, efficient, maintainable code using industry best practices.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to onboard colleagues, share knowledge, and align on responsibilities and priorities.
  • Participate in regular team meetings and manager 1:1s to support alignment, growth, and continuous improvement.
  • Create clear technical documentation, reusable patterns, and examples to scale knowledge across engineering teams.
  • Leverage AI tools, including Claude and Cursor, for development, research, documentation, and bug triage while maintaining quality and security standards.
  • Represent and advocate for engineering excellence internally and externally.
  • Maintain and support one or more legacy codebases.
  • Contribute to defining and implementing engineering standards across product teams.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation and respond to and triage issues while on call.
  • Apply an AI-first, growth-oriented mindset to make faster, smarter decisions and increase impact.

Who you are

  • 6+ years of professional software development experience.
  • Strong coding skills and demonstrated backend proficiency in Node.js and TypeScript.
  • Experience designing and implementing APIs and distributed services, with a solid grasp of system design and data modeling.
  • Proven ability to design, build, and deploy high-quality software in cloud environments.
  • Strong knowledge of algorithms, data structures, software design principles, and object-oriented programming.
  • Passion for new technologies and the ability to implement them in existing products.
  • An ownership mindset and commitment to excellence in technical work and team interactions.
  • Proficient English.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform and/or Amazon Web Services.
  • Experience with web sockets and real-time applications.
  • Experience contributing to cross-platform solutions as part of a team.
