Design Engineer I

New Leaf Energy is seeking a Design Engineer I to join the growing Design Engineering team in Lowell or Boston, MA in a hybrid work environment.
Position Summary
The Design Engineer I will design, review and entitle designs for commercial, government and utility solar PV projects ranging in size from 3MW AC to 300MW AC. This role supports 15-25 projects simultaneously and works closely with design engineers, civil engineers, and project developers.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate and perform feasibility analysis on potential sites
- Work with project design, electrical, and civil engineering teams in the design of site use permit plan sets and bid-level drawings for permitting and IPP bidding processes
- Design projects according to company design standards and train new employees on standards
- Complete drawing review processes through milestone releases
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on training materials
- Handle administration of permitting and bidding processes, including advising project teams on design and production modeling considerations
- Contribute to infrastructure design and provide recommendations for improvements
- Perform other duties as assigned
Desired Qualifications
- B.S. degree required
- 1-3 years' experience preferred
- Completion of at least 40 NABCEP credits preferred
- Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects and tasks
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to communicate design concepts effectively to stakeholders
- Computer proficiency with AutoCAD, PV Case, and PVSyst
Compensation
Employees receive market-competitive base salary, variable compensation, and participation in an equity-like program. The expected base salary range for the Boston location is $81,352-$94,544, with an additional target annual cash bonus of 10% of base salary.
