Role Summary

The Senior Energy Marshal is responsible for overseeing and enforcing the energy control program at the data center construction project in Temple, TX. This role spans the entire facility lifecycle from design review through construction, commissioning, and ongoing operations, ensuring safe energization, methodical change management, and alignment with organizational standards for operational discipline.

Travel: Ability to travel up to 15% for company gatherings or critical meetings

Location: Temple, TX (on-site)

Compensation: $130,000 - $155,000 with bonus

Essential Responsibilities

Energy Governance & Safety Oversight

  • Own the policies, standards, and approval processes for energy system safety and energization procedures across all sites
  • Act as a signatory authority for energy-related Method of Procedures (MOPs) and permits supporting safe execution of maintenance, testing, and commissioning work
  • Collaborate with site and engineering teams to evaluate and approve energy risk mitigation strategies, including lock-out/tag-out protocols, sequence of operations, and isolation schemes
  • Partner with Construction, Integration, Commissioning, and Operations Managers to evaluate proposed changes to energy systems and ensure alignment with safety, operational, and reliability requirements
  • Engage during commissioning and early occupancy to validate operational readiness and safe transition from construction to live operations
  • Review and validate electrical one-lines, energy sequencing, and equipment labeling for accuracy and compliance
  • Work closely with Facilities Operations, Engineering, and HSE peers to identify risks, recommend process improvements, and conduct root cause investigations
  • Provide subject matter expertise for internal audits, customer escalations, or post-event reviews related to power systems
  • Leverage operational data, energy use trends, and incident history to drive reliability improvements and procedural refinements
  • Benchmark across facilities to identify opportunities to optimize operational safety without compromising uptime or performance

Education, Skills, and Experience

  • College/university/professional degree in Electrical, Industrial, Process Engineering, or related work experience
  • 5+ years of experience as a Licensed Electrician in mission critical facilities
  • 8-10+ years of experience with industrial or commercial field engineering in mission critical facilities and medium and low voltage electrical infrastructures, including substation construction and operation
  • 8-10+ years of experience developing and supporting programs in electrical safety aligned with NFPA70E, NEC, and OSHA requirements related to data center best practices
  • 8-10+ years of experience in the Control of Hazardous Energy in complex mission critical infrastructure
  • Demonstrated experience developing and enforcing energy safety programs in a data center or equivalent high-risk setting
  • Strong experience with operation and maintenance of building MEP systems including power distribution, lighting, grounding, fire alarm, security, life safety, and controls systems
  • Established understanding of electrical theory and practical application through maintenance and operation of critical electrical equipment including paralleling switchgear, redundant UPS systems, DC battery strings, multi-source electrical utility switchgear, and standby diesel generators
  • Knowledge of construction techniques, terminology, and documentation
  • Expert ability to read and understand electrical single line drawings
  • Practical experience with building management systems, automation, controls, and frameworks
  • Exceptional procedural writing, review, approval, and technical documentation skills
  • Ability to operate with independence, judgment, and accountability in high-stakes operational settings
  • Skilled collaborator able to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders across disciplines
