Job Description

We are seeking an exceptional and experienced data engineer who shares our passion and obsession with quality. You'll be a core member of our product and engineering team dedicated to helping clients replace time-consuming, manual processes to reach informed real-time decisions about government markets, competitors, and agency relationships. You must be a hands-on engineer with a strong understanding of data management and governance standards and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams and platform SMEs.

Full-time position based in Pittsburgh, PA. Up to 10% travel may be required.

Scope of Responsibilities

  • Define and lead the data lifecycle strategy across data acquisition, ingestion, cleansing, normalization, and linkage.
  • Identify, resolve, and link key entities within datasets to the master data repository.
  • Apply techniques for large-scale optimization, including data pre-processing, indexing, blocking, field and record comparison, and classification.
  • Improve data sharing, repurposing, and cost efficiency in data management.
  • Establish best practices for data chain of custody to ensure traceability and accuracy.
  • Incorporate advanced statistical, machine learning, and text processing models into the data engineering infrastructure.
  • Perform exploratory data analysis, generate and test hypotheses, and identify patterns in historical data.
  • Design and populate optimal data architectures and clearly communicate techniques and results to non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related technical field.

Required Skills

  • 3-5 years of experience programmatically transforming data.
  • Experience with RDBMS.
  • Advanced SQL programming skills.
  • Proficiency with CSV, XML, and JSON data formats.
  • Strong analytical ability and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Desired Skills

  • Current U.S. security clearance or ability to obtain one.
  • Experience using Amazon Web Services.
  • Working knowledge of large (multiple terabytes) datasets.
