Description

You will build the systems that power the product and help scale a design team’s impact, defining components, patterns, tokens, and guidelines for both people and AI agents. You will work in design and code to ship highly interactive UI, codify principles and heuristics for high-quality AI generation, and translate system decisions cleanly into maintainable code. Your work will shape how quickly teams build and how reliably customers experience the product.

Responsibilities

• Develop core system components, evals, and feedback loops to harden AI design and code generation

• Govern taste through structure to prevent low-quality AI output

• Ensure system decisions translate cleanly into code with shared ownership of quality, performance, and maintainability

• Build accessibility, responsiveness, and performance into the system by default

• Define contribution, governance, and deprecation models that balance speed and system integrity

• Partner with designers and engineers and incorporate feedback alongside usage data

• Share AI tools, workflows, and tactics that work with the wider design and engineering teams

• Champion and embed company cultural principles as the organization scales

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in design engineering, design systems, product design, or front-end engineering

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Human Computer Interaction Design, or equivalent practical experience

• Shipped design system or component library work with a portfolio, case studies, or code samples demonstrating what you built and how teams adopted it (portfolio required)

• Strong interaction and visual design judgment

• Experience with design tokens, theming, and accessibility standards

• Regular practice with AI tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code, Figma Make) and experience connecting them to a design system; ability to explain, review, and debug AI-generated code

• Experience partnering with designers, engineers, and product managers in short cycles

• Annual base salary range: $137,445—$231,000 USD
