Description

You will lead backend development and evolution of the data platform and public API services for an anti-ransomware security platform. The role emphasizes building and operating reliable, secure, high-performance Scala services, while helping migrate selected APIs from Scala to Rust. You will also support a Python-based security analysis platform used for malware analysis, automated threat detection, and machine learning workflows.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and delivery for features across the data platform and public API services, including ingestion, transformation, and enrichment of security data
• Drive system design, architecture, and data-flow decisions with product and platform engineering
• Build, deploy, and own Scala-based backend services in production with reliability, security, and performance ownership
• Help plan and execute migration of selected APIs from Scala to Rust
• Set standards for code quality, documentation, and operational excellence
• Lead and participate in design reviews and code reviews; contribute to on-call and incident response
• Enhance a Python-based security analysis platform, including malware analysis engines, automated threat detection, and ML model workflows

Requirements

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience, including recent JVM-based development
• Proven experience designing and owning distributed systems end-to-end
• Experience with Rust (or strong ability to guide when Rust is the right tool) and support for migration
• Strong understanding of APIs, messaging systems (Kafka), and modern data stores (Postgres, DynamoDB, OpenSearch)
• Experience building services in cloud-native environments, preferably AWS
• Working knowledge of containers and Kubernetes
• Comfortable working in a remote-first, asynchronous team environment
