Description

Maintain and repair rack-mount servers, storage units, and network equipment to ensure high uptime in a continuous data center environment. Triage and prioritize operational requests, troubleshoot hardware and Layer 1–3 network issues, and use AI-assisted log analysis to isolate faults and improve mean time to repair (MTTR). Support deployment and provisioning tasks using in-house tools (OS deployment, DNS updates, switch configuration, and host provisioning) and assist with safe execution of complex change requests.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair rack-mount servers, storage units, and network equipment
• Prioritize operational requests by urgency and business impact
• Diagnose and perform hardware and Layer 1–3 network/system troubleshooting
• Use AI-assisted log analysis and diagnostic utilities to isolate hardware faults and reduce MTTR
• Automate repetitive maintenance tasks using AI coding/scripting tools
• Deploy operating systems, update DNS records, configure network switches, and manage host provisioning with in-house tools
• Partner with site engineering and platform infrastructure teams to execute change requests safely
• Provide ticket status updates and incident resolution details to internal technical contacts
• Rotate through swing and overnight shifts as part of a continuous support rotation

Requirements

• 2-year degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience
• Knowledge of the UNIX/Linux operating environment (file systems, permissions, admin commands)
• Basic understanding of TCP/IP networking, including Layer 1–3 switching/routing and structured cabling
• Basic proficiency with scripting for system administration (BASH, Python, Perl, etc.)
• Familiarity using AI tools/LLM prompts to assist with CLI commands, log parsing, and debugging diagnostic scripts
• Physical ability to lift hardware components, climb ladders, and perform physical work in elevated data center temperatures
• Ability to work on-site in Lockport, NY and participate in 24x7x365 shift rotations
