Description

Support the technical operations and maintenance of data center infrastructure, ensuring reliable server, storage, and network component uptime. You will perform hands-on tasks on-site such as rack installation/removal, structured cabling, basic connectivity testing, and initial diagnostics/replacements based on instructions. You will also monitor supported systems, manage incidents/service requests in IT ticketing, and keep inventory and rack documentation up to date.

Responsibilities

• Install, replace, and maintain servers, storage systems, and network components according to procedures
• Install/remove IT hardware in server racks; perform structured cabling for network, power, and fiber optic connections; run basic connectivity tests
• Carry out on-site remote-hands tasks from system administrator/remote support instructions, including initial diagnostics and standardized hardware issue resolution
• Perform visual inspections, status checks, and functional tests; document incidents and service requests in IT ticketing
• Maintain inventory and rack documentation; create and update technical work reports

Requirements

• Completed vocational training in IT/technical retraining or comparable practical IT experience
• Initial hands-on experience in a data center, IT hardware support, field service, or similar technical role
• Basic knowledge of the structure and functionality of servers, storage systems, and network hardware
• Knowledge of network cabling, patch panels, and fiber optic and copper connections
• Ability to follow technical instructions and work orders per established procedures
• Structured, solution-oriented troubleshooting for basic hardware issues
• Careful, reliable, and independent working style with strong teamwork
• Good German language skills and basic technical English skills
