Description

The Nurse Manager is responsible and accountable for the direction and supervision of nursing staff and operations within assigned units. The role supports staff orientation, training, development, and performance evaluation, and collaborates with an interdisciplinary team to implement evidence-based programs and processes. The Nurse Manager provides leadership as a role model, educator, practitioner, and supervisor to enhance patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct orientation, training, development, and evaluation of nursing staff performance
• Manage assigned workload and complete responsibilities efficiently
• Participate in interdisciplinary care development, implementation, and evaluation
• Establish therapeutic relationships through patient assessment and treatment to help patients attain, maintain, or regain optimal function
• Engage patients, families, and caregivers in care planning without discrimination
• Apply high-reliability principles to deliver consistent care and improve outcomes
• Participate in unit-based education and continuing education requirements
• Maintain competency to support personal and professional growth

Qualifications

• English language proficiency (written and spoken basic English)
• Graduate of an approved professional nursing program (ACEN or CCNE) OR meet VA qualification pathway through current, full, active, unrestricted RN registration
• Current, full, active, unrestricted RN licensure in a U.S. state/territory/DC (GNT temporary appointment possible while pursuing licensure)

Preferred Experience

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing
• Master’s degree in Nursing (highly preferred)
• 2 years of ambulatory care experience
• Prior Nurse Manager or Nurse Leader experience
• Community-based outpatient clinic experience
