Description

You will support day-to-day operation of telehealth services at an assigned VA location and between remote care sites, using independent technical judgment and providing guidance to less experienced staff with minimal supervision. The role focuses on advanced telehealth technology support, clinical workflow facilitation, training, and performance improvement while ensuring patient safety, privacy, and correct handling of equipment and clinical data.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, install, maintain, and manage inventory of telehealth hardware and software (with Biomed and IT support)

• Deliver competency-based training and guidance to patients, staff, and providers on advanced telehealth technologies, including interactive simulations

• Participate in performance improvement by analyzing telehealth process weaknesses and developing reporting/sampling/measurement procedures

• Prepare and maintain medical and telecommunications equipment for clinical examination and treatment

• Serve as a tele-presenter for CVT and VA Video Connect encounters (establish/maintain connections, introductions, and encounter facilitation)

• Act as an imager and data manager for store-and-forward telehealth (capture images/data, transmit electronically for clinical review per guidelines)

• Ensure safe delivery of patient care by following cleaning, patient-safety, privacy, and equipment/care-environment protocols

• Complete clinical questionnaires/templates and refer/screen patients for telehealth as required

• Use an electronic resource-based scheduling system to schedule appointments and monitor room/patient/provider/presenter schedules

• Provide patient education with approved materials and support Veterans with satisfaction surveys

• Troubleshoot, configure, install, secure, account for, and perform minor routine maintenance on telehealth technologies; manage work orders and coordinate with the National Telehealth Technology Help Desk

• Maintain knowledge of rules and operations for telehealth technologies and support process/logistics coordination with the Facility Telehealth Coordinator

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship

• Proficiency in written and spoken English

• Subject to background/security investigation

• Pass pre-employment physical examination

• Meet onboarding and employment documentation requirements (I-9) and required screenings (e.g., drug testing where applicable)

• Seasonal influenza vaccination participation requirement

• Selective Service registration requirement (for eligible males)

• Qualification via required health care experience/education for a health technician role

• Advanced (GS-7) level: at least 1 year of Telehealth Clinical experience equivalent to GS-6 and demonstrate required KSAs (independent technical judgment, quality/assurance and performance improvement knowledge, competing priorities, troubleshooting/maintenance knowledge, ability to provide technical guidance and facilitate knowledge transfer)

• Physical ability to stand and perform frequent reaching/bending/crouching/stooping/stretching and to lift moderately heavy items; may require travel and a valid driver’s license
