Description

This is a non-licensed position designed to assist the Clinical Laboratory Scientist by performing specific laboratory procedures within limits specified by California Law. Duties include receiving and processing specimens, preparing sendouts, setting up microbiology cultures, performing instrument maintenance, and operating analyzers under the Clinical Laboratory Scientist’s direction. The Clinical Lab Technician must be able to perform EKG and phlebotomy (at least CPT I certified).

Requirements

• Education: AA in science; equivalent experience accepted in lieu of degree/diploma (BS preferred in chemistry, biology, or biochemistry)

• Certification/Licensure: CPT I (Phlebotomy Technician I); CPT II (Phlebotomy Technician II)

• Experience: 2 years in a clinical or commercial laboratory, including 6 months as a certified phlebotomist (CPT I)
