Description

Build and operate the backend services that power an AI advisor for portfolio conversations and agentic trade execution. You will own system design through launch and ongoing operations, including integrations with trading APIs and the agentic harness (tool calling, orchestration, persistent state, and recovery). Improve reliability, latency, observability, and execution safety while partnering across engineering, product, trading infrastructure, and legal/compliance.

Responsibilities

• Own backend services powering Coinbase Advisor and Strategies (design, launch, operation)

• Build integrations with Coinbase trading APIs for correct, auditable execution of recommendations and user-configured strategies

• Develop the agentic harness: tool calling, orchestration, persistent state, and recovery from failed or partially completed actions

• Shape agent behavior using prompt engineering, evals, and conversation analysis with the registered investment adviser

• Improve reliability, latency, observability, and execution safety, including retry behavior and safeguards against duplicate actions

• Partner with frontend engineering, product/design, trading infrastructure, and legal/compliance to ship customer-facing capabilities within regulatory guardrails

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with deep backend expertise and a track record of shipping and operating production services

• Strong experience in API design, distributed systems, data modeling, testing, and debugging production failures

• Proficiency in Go (or demonstrated ability to learn it quickly)

• Experience building production LLM or agentic systems, including tool calling, orchestration, or evaluation

• Proven ability to take ambiguous projects from zero to production with minimal oversight

• Use generative AI responsibly with human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and measurable improvements
