Description

Provide continuum-quality, routine patient care and rehabilitation for patients requiring foot and lower-extremity treatment. Diagnose conditions of the legs, ankles, and feet, perform required imaging, and deliver surgical and therapeutic care. Counsel patients on proper foot care and therapeutic techniques.

Responsibilities

• Consult with patients in a clinic or in a hospital
• Review patients’ medical histories
• Examine legs, ankles, and feet to diagnose diseases, illnesses, or injuries
• Perform X-rays and physical scans of lower extremities
• Treat sport-related leg or foot injuries
• Treat deformities and ailments using techniques such as casting or laser therapy
• Prescribe orthotics and pain relief medication
• Order ultrasounds and bone density tests
• Perform ankle and foot surgeries
• Advise patients on proper foot care and therapeutic techniques

Requirements

• Doctoral degree in podiatric medicine
• Practical experience in a hospital or clinic
• In-depth knowledge of modern surgical and therapeutic treatments
• Knowledge of related medicines and topical treatments
• Familiarity with foot abnormalities and genetic anomalies
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Advanced diagnostic and fine-motor skills
• Knowledge of related physical therapy techniques
• High level of patience and empathy
• Good decision-making skills
